Do you gaze up at the night sky with wonder? What about looking up at the stars and thinking, how old that light you are seeing is? Maybe you watch as day and night morph into one, and the stars come out to play.

This meetup is going to cover off everything you need to know to start capturing amazing single shot astrophotography and a few extra bits of helpful advice. The learnt basics of capturing a single frame will form the building blocks of your astrophotography journey. Think of this meetup as your first step on that journey or for those who have already started, maybe a road sign.

Astrophotography looks amazing and packs a real punch, however, you do not need to spend a fortune to partake. Does gear make a difference, the simple answer is yes, but it is not the deciding factor when it comes to astrophotography. This meetup will look at planning your session, camera settings, required equipment. I want this meetup to help you maximise your current gear as your start capturing milky way shots.

Architecture Photography

Sunday 09 August
Hereford Street, Christchurch Central - 9:30am - 2 Hours
Christchurch Photography Group
Matthew Musson
Architectural photography can be a great way of exploring and documenting a city, whether it's your home or on holiday. Its about capturing not only the design and accurate representation of a building, but to have the shots be aesthetically pleasing to the viewer's eye. An architectural photographer makes pictures, not takes pictures.

In this session, we will be covering how to better understand Architecture photography and we'll be looking at ways to take some impressive shots and the camera settings to use.

Title or Location: Secret garden
I inspired this painting from a walk on an island. I was walking on a path without knowing where it would take me. Soon I found myself surrounded by plants and seasonal flowers in a beautiful and peaceful garden. All I could hear was the birds. I stayed there for a while. Sometimes we all need a quiet place to collect our thoughts, be grateful and relax. That's what this painting is about! The painting is an original artwork on 100 silk textiles. Dimensions: 40cm x 30cmTechnique: aqua

After being a potter for many decades, arthritis has decided it?s time to do something less strenuous, so now I?ve fallen in love with watercolour and it?s special magic. I?ve spent many hours fiddling with granulating paints, mainly DS lunar black, trying to get it to make rivulets. These eerie trees and rocks are the closest I?ve managed so far,

Title or Location: Cultural aesthetics of a family portrait
This watercolor painting features a celebration of a father and daughter: the father is in a refined Western formalwear, and the daughter through a stylised Chinese-inspired dress, blending two cultural aesthetics into a single elegant family portrait.

Title or Location: Just for fun
Illustration is my favourite style of painting. I did this one just for fun. That?s why it?s the tile of the artwork. Would love to illustrate children?s books. I paint just as a hobby though.
